Outreach and Education

Events

Cetus attends events across Vancouver Island and the lower mainland to educate boaters on the up-to-date Marine Mammal Regulations and Be Whale Wise guidelines. We ensure that boaters are equipped with the most relevant information to drive safely when in the presence of marine mammals.

Some of the many different events we attends include:

  • Boat Shows

  • Farmer’s Markets

  • World Ocean’s Day

  • Intertidal Safaris

  • School Presentations

  • Community Events

  • Summer Camps

If you would like to request Cetus attend one of your events, or do a presentation for a group please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Dock Talks

During the field season, Cetus staff conduct dock talks at local marinas to distribute educational materials to boaters and ensure that they are aware of the Marine Mammal Regulations and Be Whale Wise guidelines. You may see one of our staff educating at a marina near you.

Signage

Year round our team works to distribute and install metal signage at marinas to educate boaters about the Marine Mammal Regulations and Be Whale Wise guidelines . We provide signs free of cost to the marinas, and have placed over 60 signs all across Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.

If you know a marina or boat launch in need of a sign, let us know using the form bellow!
